bringing you all up to speed (now with GAWKER-making-fun-of-me update!)

i have been busy. forgive me.

actually, i still am busy, so this is going to be a quick one., divided into two parts:

topic one:
the siren festival

libby, her boyfriend and i went out to coney island under the guise of watching all of the bands play on saturday.

the very first thing that we did when we got there was to ride the Cyclone. i love that thing so much and it was the perfect way to start off the day.

after that we walked to the boardwalk and watched a guy throw french fries up into the air for the seagulls to catch. i guess that made us hungry, because then we decided to walk to Tottono's pizzeria for the best pizza ever. the line to get in was ridiculous, but we waited anyways.

then we decided to ride the Wonder Wheel. (that's where the picture above was taken from)

and THEN libby wanted to ride the Zipper, but i hate those kinds of rides so luckily her man had to step up.

at this point, after having been there for 5 hours, i had seen approximately 7 minutes of music. we made our way over to one of the stages because i wanted to see what saul williams was like. he turned out to be really badass. it was easily the best of what i saw that day.

then came about an hour or so in the batting cages (with varying degrees of success)...

then, while watching the ultra-shitty-band-with-the-worst-haircuts-ever 'vhs or beta' play, i realized that i had had enough and made for the train back to greenpoint.

end of siren festival report.

topic two: chuck klosterman book party

last night there was a party for the release of his new book 'Killing Yourself To Live' at the Gibson (guitar) showroom.

it was a really cool space and there was lots of free booze and cute girls that work at Spin Magazine. i was introduced to chuck as "this guy's from north dakota too!" and i don't know how he took that. ultimately though, he was a pretty nice fellow.

i think that my favorite part of the night though, was THIS!:
