2005 is going to be grand

ok, i am back. at long last.

minot was super amazing and fun and i wish i was still there. but no, i am back in the nyc. i have been avoiding entering back into real life by watching a lot of movies. tonight will be no different. anyways, some of you might be interested in my trip i figure. i might be wrong, but that's tough because here come the pictures anyways...

i have about a million photos of this trip so i am going to break it up into a few installments. the first begins...

NOW!

i spent my last day in new york shopping like a wild animal. the highlight was going to the jaques torres chocolate factory. it is so badass. i spent waaaaayyyyy too much on chocolate though. if anyone can guess the amount within $5, they will win a book about scooters. it's called SCOOTERS!. good luck.

here's my last moment with the rockafella christmas tree.

that night i attended both a christmas party and a birthday party.

the next morning i boarded a plane at 5am and was in minot by 10:30. that always totally amazes me....to wake up in this crazy-ass town and then in just a few hours be in the winter wonderland that is minot.

except that there wasn't ANY snow when i got there. and all of the weather guys were saying that we were going to have a brown christmas. i don't remember this ever happening in all my life.

i was sooo sad.

but then...

it started to sprinkle down. by the next day, we had a perfect coating covering everything. god bless you north dakota.

now that the scenery was taken care of, i could focus on the bigger things.

like hockey.

i went to the arena to plan ahead for the big game and make sure everything was in order. it was. (more on that later)

another big thing was to see mr. david eide again for the first time since he moved to london a while back. it was good to see him. we went to the dakota lounge. we threw darts. we drank.

and dave looked a lot like james hetfield with his new facial hairs.

the next day i had lunch with my pops at the super delicious Rollin' Pin restaurant on north hill.

i had hash browns. NOT crappy "home fries" (otherwise known as "the lazy man's potato") like places serve here. don't be jealous new yorkers.

later that evening it was time for my third annual holiday party. it's always one of my favorite things about coming home for the holidays. this year there were some surprise guests in the form of nicole and todd. it was great seeing you's guys there. i hope you can come back next year. todd and i had a good talk about new year's resolutions. i am going through the process of writing mine down this year for the first time ever with the hopes that it'll bring them all that much closer to reality. i'll keep you posted on this.

in addition to wearing the only tie at the party, dave brought these weird things that you pull on with another person and then one of you wins a prize. sort of like a wishbone but with a toy and a colorful paper crown inside.

here are the winners:

and here are the, ahem, losers:

(notice no colorful crowns.)

it was a great evening and many thanks go out to all that attended.

aww, dave and larry, reunited again.

stay tuned for photos of hockey night and pictures of drunk people wrestling in the snow....

Not that I ever got my prize for winning before or anything (except for a real nice Christmas card from you with an award winning CD inside)...I think you spent $67 on chocolate. *****AP*****

Before wagering a guess, I'd like to point out that home fries and hash browns are not at all the same things. Nor are they supposed to be. So I don't think your point is a valid indictment of New York cuisine.
That said, I'm guessing you spent $49 on a box of chocolates, Mr.Gump. Welcome back from the land of Minot! We love you!

no, i know that they aren't supposed to be the same thing. the problem is that they don't have hashbrowns anywhere here and i miss them dearly. thus my disdain for the home fry.

i'll bet 65.00 on chocolates. and i don't think there is anything crazy about spending that much on chocolates...if the chocolate is good enough, it's totally woth it.
