no no no
the yeah yeah yeah's show at bowery ballroom on friday night was boring.

the more that i think about it, the more i realize that i would have had more fun throwing $24 out my window.

on the other hand, i stumbled upon this amazing public access show when i got home that night.

i guess that makes us even.

i am still alive

here's a partial list of some stuff that i've done since last we met:
-saw the film Cache. eh...
-saw wolfmother at the mercury lounge. they were awesome.
-played a boxing video game and ate pizza at adam and min's house. i am the champ.
-went to bed at ten o'clock pm. twice.
-collected 7 of 8 of my building's garbage cans that had blown to the four corners of Greenpoint after a particularly windy day.
-ordered a couch for my living room. it's brown.
-listened to the demo of the new Guns 'n' Roses album. some of it totally rocks. some of it is awful. that seems about right though.
-saw the film Match Point. Scarlett is beautiful. London is beautiful. Jonathan Rhys Meyers is super creepy looking.
-listened/still listening to about 100 old episodes of theRicky Gervais Show that my generous friend and former blogger Scott W. sent me.
-played a whole lot of world class foosball.

19 more days

the website for cycle 6 is up and running.

even though it's probably the slowest, crappiest site ever, i still love it.

it's good to have our Tyra back.

and wow, she's brought a truly strange looking group of ladies with her this time around.

jesus.

some of you might remember how cycle 5 worked out for me. that being the case, i might keep my picks for the top three close to my chest this time around.

or maybe not.

now, if you'll excuse me, i am going to spend the rest of my day trying to figure out how to get a certain someone un-engaged.

this is all very exciting.

breaking the fast

for the last three days, i have been on a juice fast.

it's something that i used to do every year, but this was the first time since i moved to New York.

i hadn't eaten since sunday at 1:00pm.
instead, i drank about 4 gallons of apple, blueberry, carrot, pineapple, and grape juice.

for breakfast this morning i had an egg and cheese on a roll.

it was delicious.

holy sweet mary, it was delicious.

Valentine

i hope everyone is having a cozy, romantic day.

i also hope that everyone gets to see this film soon.
i can't wait. (here's the official site)
braving the brooklyn blizzard
YES!

finally, a real deal blizzard landed on us. it's the second biggest single day snowfall ever in nyc.

tough.

here's a comparison of when it first started vs. the next morning.

the snow started on saturday night. a group of us decided that we had to get together and go out and play.

vince and i walked from Greenpoint to meet up with adam and min in Williamsburg.

along the way, the snow got heavier.

once the group was assembled, it was time to bar hop and throw snowballs.

after a few hours of this, we were caked in frozen snow.

min looked a lot like Han Solo (when he was hanging around on Hoth) i thought.

see?

for some reason, the entire time that we were outside, vince wasn't wearing any gloves. apparently he doesn't own any.

this only seemed to encourage him though.

we walked to and from so many bars.

it was epic.

after a while, we ended up in front of this bar called Barcade. as we were about to walk in, adam and vince started a giant snowball fight with a bunch of totally random strangers.

some of it was caught on tape.

before you watch, please realize that this was at the end of a long, long night. i don't normally laugh like this. i hope.

this next picture of vince pretty much sums up the snowball throwing bloodlust that he had at that point:

after this shot was taken, it was time to call it a night before we all ended up in jail.

the next morning, new york woke up to a lot of snow.

and i had to shovel my sidewalk.

and some guy across the street had to shovel his car out with a wooden board.

when all was said and done, i had created a mountain of shoveled snow.

behold Mount Sasso!

after my duty was complete, it was time to head out into the newly wintery-white Brooklyn.

but first, vince and i met up with eric for a beer and some lunch.

play time:

the only bad part about all of this snow was that it wasn't sticky enough to make snowmen.

after a bit, we went to Teddy's for some hot chocolate and irish coffees....

...and then home.

every car was buried.

this morning, the city-folk started the chore of digging out.

suckas!!

it's supposed to be in the 50's in two days.
here comes the slush.

"please sir, may i have some snow?"

ok, once again they are talking about how we are supposed to get a blizzard here tomorrow. so far this winter there's been no snow to speak of.

hopefully this time the weather guys (i'm looking in your direction Sam Champion) have it right.

let it come down.

oh, and completely unrelated, there's this. watch out.

wait, one more. can you believe this??? what year is it?

i always knew that South Dakota was full of goofballs.

Polamalu Blitz

whew.

what a long, crazy weekend.

thanks to all of you that made it out to my opening on friday. that was really great of you guys.

immediately after the opening, the weekend started off and quickly became a long, blurry composite of ping pong, foosball, drinking, eating, xbox, home run derby, drinking, xbox, soccer, arm wrestling, conquistaball, eating, and of course, the Superbowl.

most of this took place in Albany. this is a view as we were leaving the city to head up north.

anna prepared the most insane amount of Superbowl food that i have ever seen.

i made a pledge with her that we'd eat it all by the end of the night, but we didn't even come close.

it was fun trying.

after the game, it was fun to talk to all of my family (who are from Pittsburgh) and be happy about the Steelers winning. everyone was in a good (and mostly drunken) mood.

sadly though, all good things must come to an end.

the next day, vince and i found ourselves on the famously non-luxurious Greyhound bus headed back to NYC.

for about two of the over three hour trip, the guy who was sitting behind us repeatedly called his girlfriend a bitch. sometimes he'd mix it up and call her a "broken-down bitch".

it was truly awesome.

anyways, good job this year Steelers. it was fun.

speaking of hot air balloons from north dakota...

Chuck Klosterman is blogging the Superbowl.

you can find it here.

(i'm just kidding about that hot air balloon comment.)
